1. Storage on this website
This website uses first-party cookies to provide requested newsletter sign-in and protect it against misuse. It also stores your chosen light or dark display preference in localStorage. Optional OpenAI advertising measurement is activated only after you choose Allow ad measurement in the cookie banner.
2. Sign-in cookies
__Host-twb_reader_browser: a random signed browser identifier used to bind a login code to the requesting browser and apply request limits. HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax on the HTTPS public site; maximum browser lifetime twenty-four hours.
__Host-twb_reader: an encrypted, authenticated subscriber identity and session identifier after successful verification. HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax; maximum browser lifetime 12 hours. The server session may expire slightly earlier because its lifetime starts with the code request. Signing out revokes the server session and removes this identity cookie. Neither cookie stores a browser-controlled paid-access flag.
The local HTTP preview uses twb_reader_browser and twb_reader without the __Host- prefix. Private GoDaddy preview access may also use hosting authentication storage governed by GoDaddy; it is separate from the public application.
3. Display preference and reading position
twb-theme in localStorage remembers a light or dark setting you select. The application gives this preference no fixed expiry; it remains until you or your browser clears or evicts it. It is not used to identify a subscriber or sent to Beehiiv.To return you to your place after article sign-in, this tab temporarily keeps the article path, a content anchor and scroll position in sessionStorage under twb-reader-return-position. It contains no email address, sign-in code or subscription status and is not sent to a server. A saved position is valid for 30 minutes, is cleared when used, and otherwise lasts only for the browser tab’s session.
4. Choices and external services
Public pages can be browsed without newsletter sign-in. Blocking the sign-in cookies prevents subscriber access through this website. Clear site data in your browser to remove cookies and the theme preference; use Sign out to revoke the active reader session. We use storage necessary for the service you request and do not treat continued browsing as consent to optional cookies. Cookie settings on the website lets you choose Reject optional cookies to withdraw permission for future measurement and delete the OpenAI cookies. The banner decision is stored in this tab under twb-cookie-choice-v1 for up to 30 minutes. The measurement permission and campaign labels are kept in this tab under twb-chatgpt-measurement-v1 in sessionStorage for up to 30 minutes of inactivity, or until the tab closes. Without permission, signup continues normally and no conversion is sent. If email confirmation is required, we retain an opaque acquisition identifier and encrypted ad references for up to 30 days to report the confirmed signup once. A revocation token is stored in localStorage under twb-chatgpt-pending-v1 for up to 30 days so withdrawing permission on this browser stops pending confirmation measurement. Confirmed or revoked records no longer retain ad references. Server delivery may retry with the same event identifier to prevent duplicate counting. Blocked browser conversions are not replayed.
Beehiiv signup, checkout and account pages apply their own cookie notice when you visit them. Article media is loaded from Beehiiv media servers; ordinary network requests may disclose connection data. We do not embed Beehiiv signup forms. With your separate permission, OpenAI may set __oppref (an opaque ad-click reference, up to 30 days) and __obref (a random browser reference, up to 365 days). Browser restrictions can shorten these lifetimes. These cookies do not grant newsletter access. Open Cookie settings and choose Reject optional cookies to remove them; we also clear them when measurement permission is absent.
